I really doubt the pen is what is holding this up. My guess is Asus has 5x the engineering resources supporting this plus much more experience. I dare anyone at Lenovo to tell us why it's really taking so long to bring ICS out. My guess is that it's the same team responsible for ICS on TPT, the Android TV and whatever else product they're producing. Oh and they also have to make a new version of that Lenovo launcher - yes that requires time!

it's all about the Amazing App Wheel.
no, seriously, there is a lot of stuff they have to get working: app shop, notes mobile, social touch, etc. it's not just a clean ICS port.

General question here. What are the odds that xda or other independent devs can get ICS working on the TPT before Lenovo does? Would they not need to unlock the bootloader to do so?

There is already a pre-alpha version of ICS for the TPT under development at xda. If you're brave you can take a shot at it now. All you have to do is root the tablet (very easy -- just install the Android SDK and the tablet drivers, and run a script), install ClockworkModRecovery (push the file using adb and run it), and then flash the ROM. Details are here:

Okay, I really want to dust off the TPT and since the release date should be soon (very soon) and I haven't seen any release date, progress or confirmation that it is close - does anyone know by now what the target date is? ![]()

May is fine, I guess. Longer then I've hoped, but shorter then i've feared. ![]()

Lenovo's not the only one with out ICS yet, it is really just starting to get rolled out, my samsung galaxy s2 hasnt been update yet. I would venture to say that more devices are still waiting than already have it so I think it's a bit to early to be hating on Lenovo for not gettting it out yet, I wouldnt even say they are late.
