A recent OTA upgrade allows installing applications from Lenovo's App Shop without marking the "Unknown Sources" option on the Applications tab (on the Settings menu).
As a workaround I would suggest you allowing installation of non-Market applications temporarily (by checking Settings -> Applications -> Unknown Sources). However, my advice would be installing all missing upgrades. Each upgrade has a lot of improvements, and worths installing it.
