Loving the Tablet..

[ Edited ]

would be something I really would like to do.

Most of the Hardware

(apart from micro-USB, GPS, power button, camera quality, charging time, dockingstation without HDMI)

seems to be very good and well done, which I would guess was Lenovos job.

Mostly I am concerned about the privacy and safety with googles Android and the market

(once logged in, you cant log out, with starting stockbrowser your account is exposed to everyone using your tablet)

Most of the rest of googles Android is working good, even when you cant stop (ed.: uninstall) their (also) remote control app google talk, with which they can uninstall apps automaticly when they like and propably can do other things, too.

edit: Not to forget about Lenovos "remote control app"  the Mobility Manager

Also the absence of a fulll system backup (could be a thing that google did not planed to include yet, and Lenovo seems to sell it extra or not at all (for a business tablet hehe...)) is something I did not expect.

(Not to talk abot all the "full" apps of which I thought to come with the tablet )

The special settings which had to be done (propably by Lenovo) for the tablet work mostly good.

Only the brightness settings, the problems with the pen when resting the palm in a in one line to the pen in an 45° angle, the problems with the pen when touching with the palm the android bottom bar, the decision not to support NTFS harddisks or USB-drives for >4GiB files and others I dont remember atm are still up to get updated (afair since it was "born")...

(ed.: Well, with "root" you can already change a lot of things, but its not supported by lenovo, so you are trapped)

So maybe you already see, after owning the tablet for around half a year and trying to use it for studying, writing notes etc. I am not daring to show it to my company to ask if it could be used there and

I am not amused at all

I would say

"I lenovo the Tablet"....

Re: Loving the Tablet..

You really think a multibillion dollar company as public as google is going to remotely wipe your data or reveal what jind of websites you personally look at? The remote capabilities can be exploited yes, however I highly doubt that google as an entity would misuse them.

Sucks that this is my first post. I was hoping to praise the tablet. Not toss tinfoil at a nutter...

Re: Loving the Tablet..

Sure. Google is a multibillion dollar company because they have given the world an excellent free search engine, not because they are trading with our personal information.

Every tool, app, prg, installed to remote control or to collect data, etc is a risk because of others legaly or illegaly could be able to use it.

I would like to have more own control  about my computer and data not less, and be able to agree or disagree to it.

I send the tablet in because of the pen problems.

They returned it quick (3days) as "repaired"

What they did:
Rip of my screen protector and run tests.

But also without protector I have the problem, its not solved.

So I made a Video of the problem without the screenprotector which
I will load up soon to show everyone who is interested in. Here.

Then I had to invest 2 hours of time to clean the protector with tape and
apply it again, but it doesnt look as good as before.

It cost 20 Euros and is almost not useable anymore! :smileysad:

I need the protecor for beeing able to work in the train or in rooms with ceiling lights
and more important, because the pen can scratch the monkey-glass when there is dust under the tip :smileysad:.

edit:

I told my workmate that  if I keep the tablet and want to use the pen for writing I would have to use a glove.

He laught at imaginating this "solution"... and I am thinking the same...

Oh NOlove its snowing....

I got 3 flakes of dust under my monkey-glas, probably more will follow...

If I send my Tablet in, I probably will loose my root access  and  therefore my backup and restore possibilitys of apps and settings ( desktop shortcuts, apps versions I like to keep ....).

Also no ubuntu and fullscreen anymore...

Why did Lenovo not sell it 100Eu more expensive but with proper, issue solving updates and recall of all devices with bad soldered micro usb and buttons, put in a better back camera and solved also other hardware problems like with the once so unique active stylus and gave feedback to the comunity to see what the customers need and want or hate...

I like working devices, I like productivity devices,

I dont like to be annoyed because of a brand name...

I am upset

I love a tablet!

Got a 99Euro 7" ICS Tablet.

It cant do much, but what it does, does it right.

So nice to have a Tablet to show to others saying "yes, it works".

Cant say that about the TPT...

(Here in Germany its sold as Odys Xelio other name seems to be Momo9 ,

- it has only wifi for wireless communication,

- micro-sd card slot

- usb stick support with gto-adapter

- skype support with webcam

- a good microphon

- a good and loud speaker.

- hdmi with full hd

- can play fullhd movies

- the display doesnt flicker when dimmed and is very nice for reading

- 800x600 resolution (at 7" 16:9)

- weight only 377g

- ed.:  and easy to root :smileyhappy:

so if it would have

- a working pressure sensitive stylus-

- a dual core cpu

- a 8" 4:3 display

- mikrofon input

I would like to pay 5x the price..

imagine.. a working tablet .....*dreaming*

ed.: like an not yet available HTC Flyer with ICS and dual or quad core....)
