Betreff: OTA3 update (ICS 4.03)

DiableNoir, is screen capture working for you? There is a discussion going on here:

forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-slate-tablets/How-to-take-a-screenshot-in-ICS/m-p/778517#M15963

None of combinations of power button and volume down button are working.

(note: I have not re-tested these since the ICS update 2012/06/21) ¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸¸,ø¤º°`°º¤ø,¸

Re: OTA3 update (ICS 4.03)

Just got the ICS update here in the US. It seemed pretty sluggish at first, but a restart fixed that.

Re: OTA3 update (ICS 4.03)

My update went smoothly and performance looks about the same as before.  Notes seem to be a little better - almost as good as Quill.  I can't get rid of some of the annoying features that Lenovo installed and it isn't worth rooting the device. I haven't had a chance to test battery life, but so far it seems O.K.

I have no idea of how long the hardware will hold up without yet another return to the service depot. Unfortnately, I have had to tell the few people who have asked me about it that I can't recommend it because the build quality is so bad. I am not throwing out my two ThinkPad laptops, but when the time comes, the replacements won't be from Lenovo.

Re: OTA3 update (ICS 4.03)

All, am in the US and tried to install, but am getting the error:

assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/bin/bootanimation","...three long strings of alpha numerics...")
e: error in /cache/update.zip
(status 7)
Update fail please press power button to reboot...

any ideas? tried several times but continued to get the same error message.

also went to /cache/, deleted update.zip, redownloaded thru "check for updates", but still the same error.

is the update saying there's something wrong with my current bootanimation?

I am like you. I want to recommend the TPT, but in all honesty, can't. And, I am in the market for a new business laptop, but wouldn't dream of considering Lenovo. :smileysad:

Re: OTA3 update (ICS 4.03)

Knock...knock...
Why my tablet still stuck on Android 3.1?????
Build Number ThinkPadTablet_A310_02_0037_0074_ROW
Machine Type 1838A19
Every times I'm running Check for updates the message said Yoursystem is up to date....

Is there any special preparation before update to ICS?

you are throwing out the baby with the bathwater, and then some. the TPT is a new product for Lenovo based on an unproven tablet OS. by contrast, Thinkpads have been around forever and are widely considered among if not the best productivity laptops. I'm placing an order for an x230 today.

that said, I would be wary of me-too products like the X1 Carbon, which is a macbooklookalike.

IF the ThinkPad was still manufactured by IBM your statement would be true AND I would be buying one. Neither is true and I will NOT be. Ever.

Re: OTA3 update (ICS 4.03)

If Thinkpads were manufactured by IBM in Scotland, they would be $2000+. Now they are affordable, and are easily one of the best business notebooks around (there are not exactly many vendors).

Still easily best keyboards (even with the latest layout herecy), still best trackpoints, still easy to repair (excluding X1 series), and very reliable ( http://ctwatchdog.com/finance/2012-computer-reliability-report-lenovo-most-reliable-acer-least-relia... ).
