I'm also having this problem, actually I've tried different ways of writing to see if it is the hardware problem or just interference of capacitive layer, and I'm now pretty sure it is the latter.
I can tell the temporary unwritable area is usually on the same line where you rest your palm, whenever it happens, I just lower my palm then it it solved. And when I'm taking notes while standing in the lab (which means my palm is not rested on the screen), the problem never happens. And it is definitely not due to the status bar.
And I have another problem that when TPT is in charging, there are some areas become very sensitive, you can see pen traces even you didn't touch the screen(put the pen tip very close to the screen but not touch). it is not that a big problem because I don't usually writing with a cord on, but it needs to be concerned to make the performance more stable.
Hope OS level pen only mode can fix it. And it is really urgent actually, it almost ruined my supposed-to-be-perfect writing experience and as long as the writing experience is not perfect, it is no use at all.
My Model: 1838CTO

I noticed the same problem. I thought it was a bad part of the screen, but after I moved my hand over I could write without a problem... I used to have the Dell Latitude XT tablet (which uses the same digitizer) and never had this problem. Do you think this can be fixed in a OTA update? Thanks.

I got the solution, but dont tell anyone ![]()
You take your 500 Euro Tablet and an old washed sock,
cut the upper part of this sock, put in on your hand and it looks great and high tech like this:
Real NOLove Thingpad Tablet Style
"And the issue is solved"
(No update to solve the problem of the pen problem since TPT is available. My congratulations to the manufacturer! )

The most interesting point is, I dont have that problem while charging, only on battery.
That could mean it is some energy saving setting which gives the problem...
And that it could be a software issue, easy to solve...

I have this problem very frequently, especially when the screen has been on for a while. The right side of the screen starts to have unresponsive patches. Caused me to miss a lot of important things during lectures.
I did manage to find a partial solution: I started using LectureNotes instead of Quill, as with LectureNotes I could write elsewhere then shift the writing to where it should be. Note that I am not blaming or badmouthing Quill or promoting LectureNotes; both are great apps tailored for different user groups.

@pghFL
Nice that you liked Germany.
I am happy when people can get positive impressions from Europe and Germany ![]()
Good to hear that you do not have this pen problem.
My pen problem is like shown on the picture and in the video.
Most problems I am experiencing:
- On battery
- Touching first with the pen
- Having the palm on the screen while writing
- Near left middle of the screen
- ed.: Pen and palm in one line, - 45° to bottom frame
I really would be happy if this problem could get solved.
(since a long long time..)
