Re: Power Button switch fell off the motherboard

[ Edited ]

I have just discovered I have the same problem.  The power switch became mushy, and then the unit would not power up.

Opened the unit and found the power switch loose on the motherboard. From my inspection there appeared to be no solder on either pin to the switch.  I will be calling for a repair ticket tomorrow. Ugghhhhh!!!! Less than one month old.

UPDATE:

My Power Button has failed again.  This was just repaired in late October at a Lenovo Authorized Repair Station.   I certainly don't want to return it there again. The switch attachment to the circuit is  poorly engineered and designed. I have been careful in my use of this tablet all along.  Now I worry about the Micro USB port also. What I really want is a new Tablet.  How and to whom do I escalate this issue ???

Re: Power button problems

+1 for this power button/wake issue. Sometimes the tablet will go into a deep sleep and it takes multiple attempts for it to start again. Very annoying and needs to be fixed via software update

My tablet button does not work at all. I plan to send it in for a replacement, but I worry that this will happen on the next as well. Lenovo, are you going to fix this issue.

Re: Power Button switch fell off the motherboard

Mine fell off too, gonna resolder, but I expect that Lenovo is going to have a pretty high failure rate on this.

It looks like the only thing holding the switch to the board is the solder on the three contact points. The pins that go into the holes on the board are short and do not have any solder, nor a place to solder to.

To top it off, the button on the side presses sideways and up (since nothing holds the switch down) and will eventually break the solder on most devices.

When I solder mine, I may try to improvise a mount to hold the switch down so it will not come off again.

Lenovo, yo might want to change to a switch that has pins that clip in or put a clip over the top to correct the issue going forward.
