tried to root but got stuck help

Actually I didnt even get to root yet, I followed all of the instructions for the abd and sdk etc installation, and everything appeared to work well except when I typ adb devices I do not get a device listed at all?

 

I posted on the other forum but I'm not sure how active that thread is anymore so any help would be appreciated.  The guide I used was the pdf posted by TS (thanks for that TS it made it easy to follow)

fiddled around and got it to work so now I am rooted, not sure what to do next though
