RAID controller on TD230 Server

I've been looking at the TD230 Server to replace a 7 year old Win2000 box.  In the past we have used a Promise SmartTrak RAID controller that allows us to setup a RAID 1 [mirror] with a 3rd drive used as a hot spare.  If one of the RAID drives fails, the hot spare drive is automatically switched over become part of the RAID.

Can I do the same thing with the Lenovo's RAID controller?

both the built-in intel ESRT2 and discreet 9240-8i option (an LSI card) offer global hot spares.   to the best of my knowledge this isn't disabled in either option.

U DA MAN!     Yes, it does appear that global hotspares are possible.  I'll look thru those resources a bit more in-depth.
