Hi, is it possible to use IBM x3400 hard drives on Lenovo TD200 server?
HD tray/caddy p/n 42R4131, got 4 bought for the IBM version
Lenovo server case seems to be the same of IBM x3400 except for the front panel.

Yes, it will work.
However - the waranty of IBM options won't get upgraded from 12 months (on IBM options) to eg. 3 years (or more) of Lenovo system unit. You will also have to contact IBM service provider in case of HDD problem and Lenovo service provider in case of issue with the system unit. Also if any compatibility issue appear you will get into trouble - officially certified are Lenovo HDDs only.
So - will work, but it is not recommended and be aware of warranty issues.

We're a little IT company with very small budget and we're planning to change our server.
We got 4 x 750 Gb IBM HS hard drive bought for an IBM server x3400 never used because the customer changed idea at last minute.
New Lenovo server costs about 1500,00 euro (TD200) and the value of hard disks (they are new!!!) it's about 1200,00 euro... so we'll take the risk ![]()
