Is it just me, or are others on here anxious for the next round of Thinkstations to be released?
I tried to look at history to get a sense of when they'll be out and got the impression it could be sometime soon.
Dream machine: C30 or D30 -- either of which will be able to do all I would ask of them with room to spare.
I was just thinking about this.

Given the recent discounts on these machines, and the fact that E30 is out, i think there will be new S30 or D30 coming out soon (this is my hypothesis).

E30 is really it's own beast since the E-series platform uses a different chipset than that used in the S, C, and D series. So don't use E as a guide for when you'll see the next S, C, and D platforms.
The next platforms are in development, and they will be released at some point. But that's about all I can say
(sorry for the teaser).

we might define product lifecycle differently.
E series is definitely on a different cadence though than the rest of the ThinkStation line due to it's chipset selection.

For those other masochists who similarly enjoy being tantalized, I offer the following minute detail blown completely out of proportion:
The "cover model" on the following PDF--created for Lenovo partner resellers--is referred to as the Thinkstation D30. The PDF was released in May 2011, which is recent enough to contain the E30 also. Here's the link:
http://www2.partnerinfo.lenovo.com/us/en/pdf/Lenov
Is this merely a typo? OR, is it the work of a "gruntled" employee who wanted to send a coded hint to the worthiest of adherents? The answers to these queries are not clear, but the speculation is definitely unwarranted. Can I zoom in enough to see what processor is inside??
(What is it that makes me so vulnerable to becoming giddy about release dates of the latest {favorite smartphone} and favorite Lenovo products? Could I be in denial enough to believe either product would actually make me look sexy to anyone outside of Mensa conventions? Who knows?! I'd consider discussing all of this with a shrink--but I'm saving up for my first Thinkstation! ... I wonder what I will name her?)
Definitely up past my bedtime,

definitely a typo. someone confused E30 with D20 and melded them together. sorry. ![]()
the info is correct on the D20 page.
marketing materials are at times created by designers who don't know an SFF-8087 socket from a serial port or a quadro from a quad-core. that's just how it is. ![]()
