it makes sense that the coolers are only packaged with lenovo RDIMMs.   because they have on-board memory buffer chips, they run hotter than uDIMMs.   in fact, unless you run RDIMMs, the coolers aren't necessary.

 

regarding duckys20's question, the coolers aren't built for the S20 because the S20 doesn't accept RDIMMs.   plus, for the same reason i mentioned above, a memory cooler isn't necessary on an S20 whatsoever.

Thanks for the info!

 

I went ahead a purchased an HDD cooler that should help with the temps in the general vicinity of the HDD/memory.  Not that the S20 runs hot by any means, but the SMART on the HDD is reporting 47+ deg C.
