Hello,
I am having a hard time getting this thinkstation S10 to boot with a new GPU. The pc runs just fine with the standard quadro fx 1700 in it. But as soon as i put my ati hd 5770 or nvidia gtx 460 in it wont post. When i put the new cards in i get wierd beep codes. Sometime they are 4-2-3-3 then sometimes its 1long and 2 short. It just shuts down and turns on and repeats but nothing comes up on the screen. The specs are listed and any help would be GREATLY appretiated. ![]()
Thanks
Larry

welcome to the forum!
the short answer is that those cards aren't supported.
officially-supported workstation graphics cards in the S10 include:
- quadro NVS290
- quadro FX370
- quadro FX570
- quadro FX1700
- quadro FX4600
- tesla C870
desktop or gaming cards aren't supported. some users have found a few cards that worked but you'd need to search this forum to find them.

Thanks guys.... I appreciate that more than you know. I was beating my head against the wall trying to figure that out. Lead_org, can you elaborate exactly which card you are running? I see a few of the 4870's. Some are 1.0 some are 2.0 on the bus type. I have already bought and returned 3 different cards so i wanna make sure i get the right one this time. ![]()
thanks a million

I was looking to play arma2 or mw2 on this machine aside from doing work. Do you think the 1gb ddr5 edition of the 4870 will work? I dont know if its the speed of the card or the age or what. I tried the hd5770 and now i know its not supported for sure. But i also tried the gtx460 1gb ddr5 and it did the same thing. What do you think?

it's that your workstation was never intended to play games.
