Although the change log idicates fixes for this problem, I still see the following errors with the
latest AC version. The previous version 5.84 does not show any eventlog errors.
Service Control Manager Eventid 7026
The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
IBMTPCHK
When I try to start the driver, I get the following 2 errors:
Netlogon Eventid 3095
This computer is configured as a member of a workgroup, not as a member of a domain.
The Netlogon service does not need to run in this configuration.
Service Control Manager Eventid 7001
The IBMTPCHK service depends on the Net Logon service which failed to start because of the following error:
%%0
Does this IBMTPCHK (IBMBLDID.sys) need to be running or not?
Thanks ....

Can you try this patch and see if it resolves the issue.

Wow, someone from the Lenovo staff answering has rasied my hopes again since I did not get a response from my lass post about Access Connections here.
I am currently back on 5.84 righ now. but I would be willing to reinstall 5.85 if you would kindly explain what the IBMTPCHKremove.exe will be doing and the purpose of this execcise. Is it a fix, work-around etc.? I'm not keen
on running an executable posted in a community forum without having any idea what it does. It seems clean
though. Thanks for any infos.

IBMTPCHK was used earlier to confirm that the app is being installed on a IBM system. This is not required anymore as we make calls to the BIOS for this detection.
The tool will basically remove this check.
With that said I have not been able to repro the issue in AC 5.85. The issue was in AC 5.83 and AC 5.84, we actually fixed it in AC 5.85 - so I am surprised you are seeing it in AC 5.85 and not in AC 5.84.

Sorry for not getting back soonner. I uninstaled 5.84 and reinstalled 5.85 and checked to
make sure I was still getting the ibmtpchk error and I was. I ran the exec you sent which
resolved the eventlog error, but all you did was remove the ibmtpchk service from the registry.
When I install 5.85 the following reg entries are added (only included relevant parts):
(+)(REG KEY) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_IBMTPCHK (+)(REG VAL) NextInstance = REG_DWORD, 1 (+)(REG KEY) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\R oot\LEGACY_IBMTPCHK\0000 (+)(REG VAL) DeviceDesc = REG_SZ, "IBMTPCHK" (+)(REG VAL) Service = REG_SZ, "IBMTPCHK" (+)(REG KEY) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\R oot\LEGACY_IBMTPCHK\0000\Control (+)(REG VAL) *NewlyCreated* = REG_DWORD, 0 (+)(REG KEY) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\IBMTPCHK (+)(REG VAL) ErrorControl = REG_DWORD, 1 (+)(REG VAL) ImagePath = REG_EXPAND_SZ, "\??\C:\WINDOWS\system32\Drivers\IBMBLDID.sys" (+)(REG VAL) ObjectName = REG_SZ, "" (+)(REG VAL) Start = REG_DWORD, 1 (+)(REG VAL) Type = REG_DWORD, 1 (+)(REG KEY) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\IBMTPCHK\Enum (+)(REG VAL) 0 = REG_SZ, "Root\LEGACY_IBMTPCHK\0000" (+)(REG KEY) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\IBMTPCHK\Security
So what was the actual fix indicated in the change log for 5.85?
Why is the ibmtpchk service and additional entries above being added by the 5.85 installer
if it is no longer needed?

That was supposed to be removed in AC 5.85, I am not sure why you are still seeing the issue. As I mentioned in my previous post, I was not able to repro the issue with AC 5.85.
Can you provide details of you system.
Model No, Wireless adapter and driver version.

ACConn (83cx71www.exe) was downloaded from the following link:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.p
md5sum D:\@Drivers\$T500\$XP\SW\AccConn\83cx71www.exe
b1436f65c8491fdbb0ba0b7e0b462ef7 *83cx71www.exe
Installed as follows: "D:\@Drivers\$T500\$XP\SW\AccConn\83cx54ww\Setup.e
My laptop is a T500 model 2082-52G with XP/SP3 + all updates
Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300 AGN (Driver Version 13.4.0.9)
From the looks of it, you are using a different 5.85 package than what I'm getting from the
download site. I did the install on a clean system and those reg entries are definitely
being created during ACConn installation. Let me know if you need anything else.
I might also add that IBMBLDID.sys is included in the DATA1.cab and does get installed on XP. I am
surprised you cannot reproduce this on XP.

I solved the problem by trashing Access Connections which is bloated anyway and now use Intel's ProSet Wireless Software.
Less bloat and in my case, better.
Oh and thanks for the non-help. from the staff.
