Access Connections Find WLAN disabled

Access Connections has been working as a charm on my T42 for years. However afer a recent system update, Access Connections turned to limited function although my account has Administrator rights.

The "Find WLAN" , "Create Profile", .. are grayed. I tried to reinstall AC as well as the network drivers without success, including removing all the AC related keys from the Registry.

How can I fix this problem and regain all the functionality of AC ?

Thank you for your support

Re: Access Connections Find WLAN disabled

[ Edited ]
I to am having this issue with my new T61 running Vista Ultimate. It worked initially setting up a profile for my home network, but after updates and creating a second user account (also administrative) I found it to not let me create a profile in my account ("Creating new profiles is disabled. Contact your network administrator" ) now while travelling and using a public network. Access connections would work in the other user login. Tried to uninstall Access connections in the Control Panel and let ThinkVantage reinstall with an update. Do I need to uninstall/reinstall manually or uninstall/reinstall other drivers also to get this working again?

Re: Access Connections Find WLAN disabled

Update - I am still able to access the "create profiles" features in the second (administrative) user account. I downloaded the administrator functions utility and activated in this second account and enabled allowing non-administrators to create profiles. When then logging back into the first (adminstrative) account and running Access connections it STILL will give me the error that creating profiles is disabled, see adminsitrator etc. Can this be fixed in any way? Thanks in advance for any help.

? Clean Reinstall Access Connections ?

Just posting a quick follow-up to a response I made to the thread started by phkl.  I've updated to AC 4.52; still thinks I am not an administrator, but in the second account I created it does. I tried unistalling AC (4.42) and removing all the rement registry keys I could find but on reinstall it acts the same. Obviously AC is picking up a flag from somewhere else, but nothing else is (that have run into so far). Should I try creating a third account and importing in my profile per the "corrupted profile" instructions from MS? I otherwise find this to be great laptop (only had it ~2 weeks) but this one point is annoying. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Access Connections Find WLAN disabled

Well, it looks like I am in good company. I also mistakenly download the update and can no longer find a network. Have gone over the Administrator function and find it to be quite cumbersome and without solution. If I log on as ADMINISTRATOR then I can 'find' but as the only usere on the system and with administrator priviliges I cannot do a find. Tried creating a profile but it would not import.

Access Connections WAS a fine utility and has now been rendered useless for me. I travel and use WiFi frequently and the find was instrumental.

Where do we go from here?  They BROKE IT!  Needs fixing.

Stumbled on a solution...

For what it's worth mine is now working and I don't pretend to understand why. All I THINK I did was install the Verizon Access Manager to use the Verizon broadband card I got for travel. Their software also manages WI FI as well as the cell access. I then tried Lenovo Access Connections and SURPRISE! IT IS NOW WORKING. Verizon Access Manager can be downloaded fom their site.  This must be black magic!
