Access connections GUI, gadget are irresponsive

I've installed access connections 5.31, however its gui animation is not smooth anymore starting from access connections 5.20 or so I recall. Plus access connection gadget which sits inside vista's sidebar gets more and more irresponsive over time and eventually I have to close the sidebar and reopen it to again fell the gadget buttons are responsive.

Any solution?

I've got a T400 with discrete graphics. The power manager gui runs smoothly here.
