Access connections freezing windows task bar

Hi,

Since yesterday whenever my computer boots, the task bar in windows is unavailable for about 10 minutes - I cannot click anything in it, the battery icon is gray and the access conncection shows no reception even if I am connected to the wifi.

I have found the source of the problem by disabling services from the startup - it was the AcSvc.exe service. if I disable it - everything is back to speedy old self. If I uninstall access connections - everything is fine. install again (latest version from site) - everything is BAD for the first 10 minutes.

After the first 10 minutes - suddenly all my clicks on the task bar that I did during the 10 minutes get registered, applications open, start menu appears, and then it all stops reacting again. I can use the applications without an issue, but the task bar is stuck again.

I called lenovo support ("Alex") who advised me that they do not support software over the phone - and that this forum is the only way to go.

So...any ideas anyone? I enjoyed using the access connections, and seeing as I have paid for a lenovo, I expect to be able to use its software.

more troubleshooting data: the service doesnt seem to be taking much CPU time, and memory is steady at 12,476K with 7 "helper modules" running under it.

(half) an year ago or so i had quite the same issue (Frozen Taskbar and Windows Explorer at booting) witch was caused somehow by the Access Connections Statusbar (I mean the bigger one, placed right to the Energy-Manager Statusbar, NOT the smaller symbols next to the clock – I hope the nomenclature is right, dont know) in the Taskbar!

I was able to "solve"  the problem by deactivating the Statusbar.

One month ago or so, i tried to activate it again and looked what happend.

And all runs well.

I think, one of the AC updates in the last year / half year fixed the problem, I dont know.

Well, at least it's a bit strange that this happens to you now and with the last AC-Version...but maybe this post helps *g*

I recenlty ran "update and drivers" in my ThinkVantage tools and it downloaded and installed a number of things including updating my Access Connections from 5.72 to 5.84.  After this upgrade, whenever Access Connections launches, my taskbar freezes. I have a T410s running windows 7.  I tracked the issue to "acdeskbandhlpr.exe".  Whenever I stop this process, my taskbar unfreezes.  I tired to delete this file, but next time Access Connections launches, it goes into install mode and reinstalls the file and my taskbar freezes again.

Does anyone know what this file does and how to permanently get rid of it?

same problem , tried reinstall and older version...still the same , only way is to disable it from task bar

same problem , everything updated, access connection tray icon (big) stil cause freezing , also AC utility is really slow and sometimes not responding
