SomeOtherGuy:
Thanks for both of those explanations, they both make sense and are very reasonable.
When you do get around to releasing the Password Manager 4 application to the public (meaning, when the testing finishes), you might want to make a point of explaining in the release notes that Password Manager actually calls up another application (Fingerprint Software) when it is used.
Although this may sound like a small - and perhaps to a programmer, an unnecessary - point to make, I am going to guess that a lot of the problems and complaints that we see posted here in the Lenovo Forums are caused by owners removing little bits and pieces of software that are supplied with the original image when the ThinkPads are shipped, and not being aware that the ThinkPad needs (apparently unrelated) software in order to function properly as an integrated whole unit.
By way of example, this is particularly evident with the Lenovo Power Controls and Lenovo Power Manager - a user will remove one of these software installations because they think it is 'bloatware', then a few days later, make a post here in the forum complaining that their Turbo-thing doesn't work, or their computer doesn't compute fast enough, or their battery doesn't last long enough... ![]()
So, when you write the little 'read me' note that accompanies the software download, be sure to state that the Fingerprint Management software needs to be installed (and mention the minimum version number required), the Fingerprint sensor needs to be enabled in the BIOS, and perhaps add a sentence explaining (to the non-technical types, like me) that the Password Manager will call up the Fingerprint Manager to help do the work, therefore, the Fingerprint Manager needs to be present and working properly.
Thanks and regards,
Michael

To All,
The Google Chrome issue has been fixed. The download link in message #2 of this thread has been updated. If you previously downloaded and installed Password Manager 4.00.0020, please download and install 4.00.0021 which should resolve the Google Chrome issues.
Thanks to everyone for their helpful feedback!
