I had to replace the hard drive on my T42. Then booted the Factory Restore CDs and reinstalled all 6 CDs to get back to a factory-fresh configuration. The system came back to life, but the Rescue and Recovery application has vanished. There is an R&R on the hidden partition, but there is no app on the C: drive. Hence, I can't make any backups (much less restore from them).
I downloaded R&R V3.1 and tried to install it. It failed with an error, telling me that a more recent version of the software is already present.
I looked at R&R 4.0, but the release notes indicate that it is not supported on the T42.
So I'm stumped. Can't get back to the original configuration, can't move forward.
Suggestions gratefully received.
