That is a great workaround.
It's bad,that I cannot reproduce this situation, becasue I would realy like to find  the root cause, so that this can be fixed without aditional costs

Is there an update to this problem?  I have been trying to create product recovery media on a 7387A11 (Vista) and having the same problem - the machine has a SATA drive and PATA IDE drives as well as CD/DVD writer and no drives are recognized.  Tried all the recommended solutions (remove DVD drive using device manager, newer versions of RnR and no luck).  I continue to get a blank drop down box.
