Hi, this is my third, and (most likely) my final posting in this thread.
We can quibble all we want - about it not being compatible yet with the still-unreleased Win7 or the just-released Visa SP2, or even how long it took - but the truth, and the only thing that really matters is that we won. They've reinstated it.
For all of Mark Lenovo's long silences, knowing the way corporations work, I have to believe he was working on this, using our comments as ammunition to get things changed. And for this, we owe him a big measure of thanks. There's a lesson here about the value of this kind of public forum: It pays for loyal users like us to voice our opinions, and it pays for a company like Lenovo to listen.
So again, thanks to Mark, Matt, and every single person who posted here.

All,
We should have an update on the schedule for support of Win7 and Vista SP2 by the end of this week.

Hello Mark,
after "earning" so many hits and punches from the forum users after announcing the end of life of TVSU i will spend you honour, because you did a great and very heavy job.
Thank you.
To all: please now give time to Lenovo to optimize and adapt TVSU to Win7 and Vista SP2.
In the german www.thinkpad-forum.de a very lot of users are really very happy, that TVSU is working again - i think, more than really (from Lenovo) expected users LOVE TVSU for updating their Thinkpads and Lenovo 3000.
A lot of companies use Thin-Installer with the Update-Retriever but there are really a very lot of business users, too, who also use only the System Update - even more, than i had expected, too.
I wish you luck and success with TVSU and thousands of satisfied customers..
Have a nice day

I just received the following Info:
• Lenovo discontinued TVSU on March 31 for individual use
– High download volumes were taxing capacity and limiting performance
– High costs for download and infrastructure improvements
• We continued to support our business customers with UR
• We heard clearly that our customers highly value TVSU
• We are pleased to announce a new version of TVSU on May 31
– Must be manually launched each time updates are required
– Improved infrastructure performance
– UR tool continues uninterrupted for enterprise users
• We value our customers’ feedback and appreciate their partnership
I think that just saved some weekends!
Best regards!

Would the new version of TVSU be available for download somewhere on the Lenovo Support page? I cannot find the software anywhere, and I'm afraid I have it uninstalled since a while back.

Mark and Lenovo, THANK YOU for bringing back TSVU. ![]()
I have one problem though, and think the fingerprint software update is corrupt. I originally posted the problem here, but figured out how to get the older version back, and moved it to a new thread:

Still have problems with fingerprint software, hope someone can help.

Hi, I tried running TVSU 3.00.0022 just now (can't seem to download 3.14 manually). It gets up to 28% and then I get the "Error 95 received from Package Index Server. Please contact the support center" error message. I'm running Windows XP SP3. I already added the following code to the MappingInterface.xml file.
<OS>
<OSTVIA>WXP-PRO.SP3</OSTVIA>
<OSeGatherer>
<Name>Windows XP Professional</Name>
<ServiceRelease>Service Pack 3</ServiceRelease>
</OSeGatherer>
<OSPCDPackSpec>XP.SP3</OSPCDPackSpec>
<OSQuest>Windows XP</OSQuest>
</OS>
Aside from that, I'm stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.
