Take heed....
To all of us Thinkvantage dependent owners,
If your system is functioning properly, please disable the automatic update feature of the UPDATE PROGRAM. Unless the update provides a definite advantage/improvement to your perfectly functioning system, please do not update software/drivers.
There seems to be too many people with updates going south (BIOS UPDATES). Unless you want to continue to send your sys. in for repair which causes more problems in itself, $$$$$ in most cases where warranty has expired, I would and have
Disabled the Thinkvantage's system update feature.

That's pretty good advice for any kind of software update outside of security-related ones whether it's drivers, BIOS or browsers.
Unless you're trying to solve a problem or gain some new functionality, just leave a running system alone, and enjoy it. Don't tinker with it unless you're prepared to rebuild from scratch, and always, always read the release notes first.

I believe this post belongs in the Thinkpad section it was placed originally. People with technical issues such as those constantly showing up in that part of the forum would benefit from this recommendation. They are less likely to happen upon this info. in this section of the forum.
Thanks
