Bought new T-400 with Vista Business 64-bit and XP Downgrade.
I put in the XP using the procedure in the small manual and it seemed to go in correctly without issue.
As I usually do, I first ran all the Windows Updates - including the SP3, since the Downgrade came as SP2 (32-bit).
Then, I ran the ThinkVantage updates. One of them is the Fingerprint update which seemed to corrupt the user account because after restarting from that, I first get an error "The computer name is invalid" (it's only text).
Then, after dismissing that error, I get error "The account cannot be found". But, if I dismiss that error, then comes the usual log-in screen, but it has no password and will log in if I just click OK without entering the password.
I've now reinstalled the WinXP a second time. At first, I did not install the fingerprint update and it was OK. Then, I installed it and the problems reappeared. So, I'm pretty sure this update is doing something bad.
After installing the WinXP, is it better to do the Lenovo updates before the Microsoft?
