Hi All,
Little info:
Using same XP image (Windows XP SP3)
I have a huge problems with "Hotkey Features Integration" v3.40.00 on my new thinkpads, 420s,t520,t520 with nvidia, L520.
After installation - hokey seems to be failing allmost all the time when shutting down or restarting my thinkpads - resulting in "tphkload.exe" application error. (check screenshot below) "some words danish though"

What i have tried :
Unistalling "FullScreen Magnifier" seems to stop the error - but this not a good solution.
Im out of options
Please help
Regards

Hi Anders and welcom to the forum,
Did you also have the same problem with the previous version of the hotkey software?
If not you could revert back to the previous version in case there is a bug in 3.40.0000. If you experience the same problem with a lot of Thinkpads there could be a bug that should be easy to reproduce and fix for Lenovo.

Also do you use the Lenovo pre-installed Windows or a clean install of Windows? Or do you use some kind of corporate image? Do you find some more details in the windows event log for this crash?

Recently discovered the same error (except in english) while building a T420s OS+Drivers-only image:
- Installed Windows XP SP3
- Downloaded all T420s XP drivers from the original IBM/Lenovo site (the new Lenovo site is a nightmare... even now the T420s [4173] "Hotkey" section is listing BIOS 1.41 files. Thankfully a quick "ibm-307" Bing search gets me to the old site.)
- Started installing the drivers (and pre-reqs) in the order below, when I noticed the "tphkload.exe 0xc0000008" error intermittently occurring during shutdown:
[Driver Installation Order]
1. Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver
2. Intel Chipset Support
3. Intel PRO/1000 LAN Adapter Software
4. Microsoft .NET 3.5 Framework (Pre-req for the Conexant Audio Software and most ThinkVantage tools)
5. Conexant Audio Software
6. Intel HD Graphics Driver
7. Monitor Driver
8. ThinkVantage System Update
9. ThinkPad Power Management Driver
10. ThinkVantage Power Manager
11. UltraNav Driver
12. UltraNav Utility
13. Hotkey Features Integration
14. Integrated Camera Driver <<<--- First noticed the error here while rebooting
15. ThinkVantage Fingerprint Software
16. ThinkVantage Presentation Director
17. Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software II
18. STMicro TPM Driver
19. Intel AMT MEI and SOL Driver
20. Intel Wireless LAN (bg, abg, abgn)
21. USB 3.0 Driver
The error occurs at least once every 3 shutdowns (or restarts), but doesn't seem to log any events in XP's Application or System logs. I haven't tried the "Uninstall FullScreen Magnifier" trick yet, but I agree with the OP that it's not really a solution... I was using the Hotkey 3.33.0002 driver, and the OP was using 3.40, so where can we find the 3.33.0001 version (where T420s support was first added)?
Thanks,
Jared

You can find version 3.33.0001 here:
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mob
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mob
Or you can try version 3.33.0002 using the links as already posted above.
You can also use System Update that will save you a lot of time when installing the drivers. Then you won't have to download and install each driver manually.

I have tried 3.33.0002 with same issue - going to test the 0001 release as soon i can.
Im using a corp image created within vmware workstation, then I update hal and inject drivers based on model thinkpads, thinkcentres.
First noticed this problem with our new models only, 520, 420, x220, L520 - older models seems to work just fine, but I have not yet testet them with the new hotkey version.
Another test im doing right now is a clean unattended install of WIndows XP SP3 (T520). I will then try to reproduce the error.

Gan-
Your links to the 3.33.0001 version still point to the 3.33.0002 download (83vu71ww.exe).
I've confirmed Anders' findings-- uninstalling the "ThinkPad Fullscreen Magnifier" package via Add/Remove programs resolves the tphkload.exe 0xc0000008 error on shutdown/restart.
In our T420s "OS & Drivers-only" image, the error occurred on 10 of 10 restarts with version 3.33.0002. After uninstalling the ThinkPad Fullscreen Magnifier, it only occurred once more on the first restart after uninstall of ThinkPad Fullscreen Magnifier, and since then we've had no further occurrences of the error (20+ reboots later, as we proceeded to layer on company apps to build the "Gold Master" image).
As for regression testing the prior versions, is Lenovo unable to reproduce this issue in a lab?

The links should be fixed now.

Hi again guys,
Found the problem 90% sure.
Steps I did to reproduce the problems. (Windows set to autologon, and autorestart af 10sec) ![]()
1 : Unattend install of Windows XP3
ACHI drivers added in I386\$OEM$\Textmode
Added network driver in I386 \$\Drivers\Net (OemPnPDriversPath = C:\drivers\net)
2: Joined pc to our domain - getting wsus updates
3 : Installed Hotkey 3.40.0000
4 : Installed Chipset drivers
5 : Installed PM driver 1.62 <----------------------- now problem occurs
It must be the PM driver for sure.. How can we get this info to the driver team.
Best Regards
Anders

Now I also tested my corp image - on a T420s
1 : Boot WinPE 3.0, appley image, patch HAL, inject drivers (only added network driver)
2 : Installed Hotkey 3.40.000
3 : Installed Chipset
4 : Installed PM driver 1.62 <-------------- same error as above.

Another test :
1 : Uninstalled Hotkey 3.40.0000 on both T520 (Unattend), T420s(corp img).
2 : Installed Hotkey version 3.30.0001
3: Did the restart loop 10-15 times on both without any error.
So it must be mismatch between PM driver 1.62 and Hotkey 3.40.000 (expressly "FullScreen Magnifier")
My conclusion - now lenvo just need to create a fix ![]()
