I think users are locking out their AD accounts in our Domain by updating this. Still checking, but so far, the ones who did the update are the ones who got locked out.
We also don't use Windows Firewall, so I am not thrilled it reports a problem. Just another thing for users to call about.

Just got another user - updated ThinkVantage Toolbox, and now he is locked out.
This is a major issue...

We are running Windows XP SP2 in our environment.
So far today, we have had over a dozen users lock their AD accounts. The only thing they all had in common is they accepted the Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox Update.
This just happened to another user within the last five minutes. This is an epidemic in our network and is causing serious downtime. I am not even sure how to stop it from my PC, without sending an e-mail saying don't accept the update.
Please address immediately.

mbhockey13,
Can you explain this situation in a bit more detail about the lock out? We certainly want to look into this, so if you can provide a few more details, I'll get someone to check this out.
Thanks
Mark

I'm using Vista Business 32 bit with sp2 on my T400. Thanks for heads up.

This software is unacceptable on a business computer, which is managed by an IT department that is very careful about what gets installed, what communicates, etc.
The installation does not notify users that it will always run, can't be disabled, and is essentially spyware and adware.
And it's not very good. It keeps complaining about lack of AV software yet it is installed. It keeps complaining about lack of backups yet they are done regularly. It's software for buyers of Lenovo's consumer-level (ie lame) laptops that Lenovo is sneaking onto business ThinkPads.
We haven't yet determined how to disable it from always loading, so we'll hack until we can. We see other requests here for this info and Lenovo apparently is ignoring those requests.
Another example of Lenovo being clueless?

This is amazing -- in 5 minutes, perfectly good ThinkPads go down the drain.
This adware/spyware *might* be useful to have on machines to run now and then, to see what Lenovo is selling, and to laugh at the incorrect "warnings".
BUT it CAN'T run all the time.
LENOVO: What is the starting program we must disable to prevent your program from auto-running? Do we hack the Registry or Startups or what?
Plan B is to uninstall, saying bye-bye to Lenovo software forever.
Can we get IBM to buy back ThinkPads?

How do I get rid of this POS? How do I stop it from loading??
If you haven't downloaded it yet....DON'T. You will never be rid of it.

How do I stop the ThinkVantage Toolbox from loading when I boot my system. The last thing my T42 ThinkPad needs is another program to start up when I boot.

I have the same problem and have tried about every Thinkpad start up program to no avail. Have looked in PC Doctor program under Program Files with hope that I could see what the startup file is.
Any way to prevent from auto-loading will be appreciated.
My T30 needs to get separated from this program.
Thank you,
