I am suddenly getting a pop-up titled License Authentication Failed, with the error message:
This version of Lenovo Thinkvantage Toolbox is not licensed to run on this system
when I try to run Toolbox. I have version 6.0.5449.31 installed (via System Update). After it installed on 16-Dec, I ran it and it worked fine. Now, all of a sudden, it's throwing this error.
Anyone have any ideas on what's causing this?
Thanks!
Jonathan

Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox relies on information in the system BIOS. Has your system board been replaced or have you recently updated the BIOS?
To confirm that the BIOS contains your Lenovo machine type model number:
1. Press F1 during POST
2. Look at the System-unit serial number, about halfway down the screen
3. The first 7 characters should match the codes on your system's bar code label (on the bottom or back of the PC).
If the information is is correct, there is one other possibility. We have seen this issue occur on a couple systems when the hard drive is nearly (99%) full.

I am getting this same error message on my T41.
I have had Toolbox for several months without any problem (6.0.5514.60) . Today I ran System Update and it downloaded v 6.0.5514.61. When I tried to run it, I got the error message. After a few unsuccessful attempts, I removed it, and downloaded v 6.0.5692.08 from the Lenovo website. After a very slow installation, I get the same error message.
I have not upated the BIOS or replaced any board.
My system meets the requirements (XP SR3, NetFramework 3.5 SP1).
My hard disk has plenty of free space.
Thanks for any help.

I have the same problem. I have a T410 - Windows 7 (64 bit) and the toolbox worked up to yesterday and now fails with the "not licensed" message. The system crashed yesterday (blue screen) and now toolbox does not work.

I had the same problem on a Lenovo ThinkPad T510,
with Windows 7 Pro x64
I solved this by uninstalling the ThinkVantage Toolbox, when done i started ThinkVantage Tools and opened System Update and ran the updates and software that was available. After system update was done and i had restarted the system it started with out any problems.
Be sure that you mark all the updates,
or atleast make sure that you get the Toolbox software.
Hope this helps,
Robin
