Power Management - Power schemes

Hello,

I have a Lenovo R500 laptop with an issue that just popped up last night.

I have a couple of custom power schemes created in the Power Management section, I have been using them daily for months without an issue.

Last night when I pressed the "fn & F3" keys, all of the power schemes were gone.  The ones I had added as well as the default schemes that are available.

I am unable to get the schemes to come back...I am also unable to create a new custom scheme.

When I attempt to create a new scheme, it goes through the motions as if it were creating it...but when the process is complete, there are no new schemes listed.

All of the hardware checks out...ram is good, drive is functional.

Also, the computer is free of viruses & spyware.

Any info the community can send my way would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance and look forward to hearing back from you.

Re: Power Management - Power schemes

Hi,
to me it looks, like there was some security update KB installed, or similar, that changedthe power scheme, which deleted the power scheme from Think Vantage power manager.
In this situation please completely uninstall Power Manger and install the latest version.
Also make sure, that you have the latest version of following apps/drivers:
- Power Management driver
- Hotkey utility

Cheers

Re: Power Management - Power schemes

I have had  the same issue - the powerprofile-list in the registry has grown to large.

This is obviously a bug in Lenovos Power Manager which installs the same powerprofiles with every

update or installation over and over again.

You may want to delete them in the registry as described here:

http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkVantage-Technologies/Power-Manager-Problems/td-p/23322

Registry path is:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\PowerCfg\PowerPolicies

Cheers,
