hey there!
I have got a little problem with my sl500 battery / power manager:
there is a battery inside the notebook and it does work but the power manager doesn't seem to recognize it -- all it says is: battery not installed.
any ideas how to fix this?
many thanks in advance.

Hello,
it might als be a problem with powermanager, after standby or hibernation periods.
Then simply restart your system or you uninstall and reinstall powermanager to solve the problem.
If it is hardware related, please take your battery out.
Then power up with AC only. Power down, unplug AC and hit power button ten times.
Then install your battery pack, plug in AC and power up.
Regards
Andreas

Hello,
please check you machine, with PC Doctor or Lenovo Toolbox (new), it depends what
is installed on your system (start-->programs-->thinkvantage), if these programs report errors, please call support.
Regards
Andreas

a newer version of the power manager didn't help.
the lenovo system toolbox however recognizes the battery correctly -- no errors there.

got a solution!
I noticed that the function keys weren't working, so I (re-)installed the hotkey features driver -- et voilá: the battery status is displayed now.

tirolerhut,
I have the same problem you have. I have a Lenovo 4446-23U.
Where did you download the software? I looked and looked and could not find software that would install?
I found two zip files: 6ag802ww and 6jvu33ww. Both caused errors on my system. Did you use one of these, or did you find another?
Thanks!
Jim

as far as I remember all I did was (re-)installing the lastest hotkey driver.
here you can always find the latest drivers and software: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/documen

The battery of my R60 (9457 8KU) had been trouble-free until yesterday afternoon, when the Message Center reported a "battery error". Found my way to the Power Manager, checked Battery Information, which declared the battery Good. An hour or two later, I got the dreaded "Irreparable damage to the battery" error. Brought up the Power Manager again, but now the Battery Information page said "No battery is installed" - even though the blue Taskbar icon showed 98% charge.
That's when I downloaded the LenovoBatteryDiagnosticTool.exe, and tried to run it - but, it says "Unable to contact server." That message persists even after creating a firewall exception rule to give the tool unfettered Internet access (As the owner and only user of this machine, I run with Administrator privileges.). What can I do to get the Power Manager to "see" the battery?
Then I found this thread, and followed the suggestion to remove the battery, power up and down again on AC power only, press the power on/off button ten times, then re-install the battery. No joy, in fact now even though in fact the computer does continues to run when AC power is disconnected, the taskbar also says "Battery not installed," and shows a plug symbol instead of the previous blue battery symbol. The battery-indicating LED (just below the screen), however, does correctly show that a battery is present and working.
If by "hotkeys" you mean the blue Fn options, all of mine do still work (except the one with the battery symbol.) So I guess I need some other ideas.
