Hi, all
I met with this question. That when I install Thinkpad T400 Drivers by TVSU, I took off my battery by some reason. After reboot the system, Windows report a rundll32 error, and power management ultity failed to start.
After the battery is installed, PM still failed at system start up and windows also report rundll32 error.
By reinstall the PM drivers, system goes normal.
some information about mine:
Thinkpad T400 2767-A98 with Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit Edition
PM version: 2.50
moderator note: added PM version number for clarity.

Hi,
please start one of the following commands and let me know, by which one you see again the rundll erro:
rundll32 C:\PROGRA~1\ThinkPad\UTILIT~1\PWRMGRTR.DLL,PwrMgrB
C:\Program Files\Lenovo\HOTKEY\TPOSDSVC.exe
In case this situation does not happen by neigher of those tow sommands, then let me know, when exactly do you see the rundll error.

In my case (T60, WinXP Pro SP3) results are:
rundll32 C:\PROGRA~1\ThinkPad\UTILIT~1\PWRMGRTR.DLL,PwrMgrB
C:\Program Files\Lenovo\HOTKEY\TPOSDSVC.exe - OK, volume bar appears

Hi,
in case the first command produced the error, then this is an issue with Power Manager. In this situation I would advice following:
- delete Power Manager
- make sure, that you have the latest versions of :
- Power Management driver
- Hotkey driver
- System Interface driver
-> once all the above is installed, install Power Manager useing the latest version on the lenovo web.
* reboot
- check whether the issue is still present
Let me know your results.

Haven't helped - still the same error using following:
HOTKEY DRIVER
Version: 2.20.0001
Release Date: 2009/06/10
POWER MANAGER DRIVER
Version: 1.53
Release Date: 2009/06/10
SYSTEM INTERFACE DRIVER
Version: 1.01.0805
Release Date: 2008/09/01
POWER MANAGER
Version: 1.60
Release Date: 2009/06/10
I found that problem is in PWMUICtl.dll file, WinDbg says:
Probably caused by : PWMUICtl.ni.dll (
PWMUICtl_ni!Lenovo.PowerManager.PWMUICtl.EffectSet

Also during installation I saw cmd window with some compiling warnings:

My machine is T60 model 2007-77G running Windows XP Pro PL SP3 with latest updates from MS. The only (optional) missed update is something like ".NET 3.0 language pack (KB928416)" which encounters an error while installing.
I use InternetExplorer 7 (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 3.0.04506.30; .NET CLR 3.0.04506.648; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729).
Other stuff from Lenovo:

It's 99% related to power schemes problem described here.
I can run PM now (hurry!), but cannot manage schemes...
