I would like to start using R and R to do some backups.. I have an external drive that is connected via the esata port on my SL410.
When ever I start R and R I do not see any options in there for my drive. How can select my drive to do the backups.
and how do I get to use this program properly.

Hi,
I would realy like to test this situation by myslef, but unfortunatley I don't have any esata HDD, that I could test right now.
Can anyone else check, what might be the situation in this case. ![]()

I'm looking to buy a new external hard drive and enclosure for thinkvantage rescue and recovery backups. Do external eSata drives work with this, or only USB?
With a T410 machine with an eSata port it would be a darn shame to have to use slow old USB.

I can confirm that ThinkVantage Rescue & Recovery will backup to an externally, eSata connected drive. Haven't tried recovery yet...

Hi,
if backu works, then also restore will work.
Basically you don't need to do a full restore. Just try to boot up from this HDD and if it boots up, then you are good to go.
NOTE: Of course, the HDD is bootable only if you did not changed the default configuration, which is making an external HDD bootable.
