System Update fails to install anything

Hello,

System Update Version: 3.14.0024 can not install any updates on T400 Vista 32bit any more. It stopped working some months ago. I didn't pay attention at first, but now there are about 10 updates and I want them installed.

I can select them, they are downloaded, installation starts - progress bar updates to 100%, but then a final screen shows that Package did not install. If I click manual installation link, something blinks on the task bar, but nothing happens. The package is available again for installation. My account is admin.

I tried deferring update and installing them after restart, but this doesn't help.

Tried uninstalling, checked that no Lenovo\System Update folder exists, no HKLM\Software\Lenovo\System Update, rebooted. Installed from systemupdate314-2009-6-12.exe anew. Nothing helps.

Hi,

unfortunately all that the log, that you posted it showing are the informations, on the way and updates, which were detected by TVSU. It's not showing, what is happening during the "installation".

Can you tell me at least one update, that you have tried to install. I need following info from this update:

- name of the package

- version

- language

Hi,

thanks for the update.

Hmmm, that is strange. I have checked and it got installed with the commad:

SETUP.EXE -S -SMS

without any issue on my testing system.

Does it really crash also with defered installation?

I get the same problem.

I have 24 updates to install and they ALL fail with the

If I install a update manually, from the DOS command line, it works.

So the problem is not the individual update packages, it is the installer software or one of it's services.

Does anyone of you have SAP client installed?

I had same issues if SAP640 client and Lenovo System update are on same pc.

To fix this issue delete this path from registery HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\setup.exe

Make backup first!

or copy this to REG file and run it.

No SAP servers/clients on my PC.

Just tried. Toolbox update installed successfully to my surprise, but installation of optional UltraNav Utility 2.12.0 -> 2.13, Communications Utility 1.41 -> 1.42 still fails. Manual update link doesn't execute anything. Removed the key. No effect. I usually navigate to system update folder and install everything manually, but this wastes time.
