Recently purchased both a ThinkPad X220 and X220 tablet. The model numbers for the systems are 4292 and 4300 respectively.
Neither our central Update Retriever server or a locally installed thick client TVSU on the individual laptops are able to pull any updates from Lenovo.
Update Retriever fails with the log error "invalid parameters" for both 4292 and 4300 model numbers. TVSU simply claims that no updates are found for the system.
My suspicion is that 4300 and 4292 are not recognized as valid model numbers when Lenovo update server is queried.
Any help or investigation would be appreciated!

Matt,
Make sure that you have microsoft net framework installed. At least version 1.1. I've heard of some problems with version 4.0 so don't go over 3.0.
Just something to check,

Thanks for both replies. I did, of couse, have to pull down all appropriate drivers manually from support..lenovo.com.
Note that this issue is not simply when running updates on the local clients using TVSU for models 4300 or 4292, but also when trying to get updates for 4300 or 4292 on our repository server running TV Update Retriever.
Update Retriever runs fine for all other model numbers that we support, but when checking for 4300 or 4292 the result from the Lenovo servers is "Fail. Invalid Parameters."
Further note: model 4300 does not return any systems when searching on support.lenovo.com. I had to search for the base model name "ThinkPad X220 tablet" to reach the driver download page. This is what makes me think that 4300 and 4292 (though now 4292 does map to the proper system in support.lenovo.com, which it was not doing when I first posted) might not be in the system update server as a valid model number query.
I'm hoping someone might be able to confirm this?

I see a model 4301 but I don't see a model 4300. That could at least be part of the problem. I know there's been a few glitches on the new support site.

Yep, looks like packages have not been associated to those two machine types yet. For Update Retriever, I would suggest using 4286 and 4296. This should cover you for all packages for X220 and X220Tablet while we get the machine types associated properly.

Thanks! I appreciate the update.

Hi parkerjnc,
I just tried adding the X220 tablet (model # 4298) to our TVUR. UR didn't retrieve any packages, and when I checked the query results, it states "Results: Fail | Additional Information: Please try later". Do you know if this model is still not associated in the UR database, and if not, should enterprise customers be using the other model numbers you referenced?
Thanks in advance,
Paul

Could you please try it again? That message makes me think UR just did not get a timely response from the server. I just ran UR and was able to find updates for 4298.
