ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery 4.3 and Windows 7

[ Edited ]

Dear All,

I am a Reuters photographer and for my job I use IBM (now Lenovo) machines since 2002 and currently I have one T23, one X40, one T42 and one X200.

During last 8 years I've asked 2 questions, the first still there where me and others customers we are waiting an answer http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkVantage-Technologies/Access-Connections-not-working-properly-after-... and now I am waiting some good news from the sky about the problem of Rescue and Recovery with Windows 7.

As wrote two weeks ago I did a clean installation of Windows 7 X64 on a X200 and a clean installation of Windows 7 X86 on a T42.

The machines work well and fast but in both computers I've problems, same problems, with Rescue and Recovery 4.3.

I followed the instructions http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-4Q2QAK.html included Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package (x64) SP1 and Sysprepbackup accessory package.

I did a backup of the system without problems but If I try to do a recovery from the backup it's impossible, the system prepares for recovery but nothing happen and laptop restarts normally.

As you all know ThinkVantage and F11 buttons doesn't work after a clean installation of Windows and I've tried many solutions like this http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T61-and-prior-T-series-ThinkPad/T61-fails-to-boot-up/m-p/49256#M16727 but the buttons doesn't work and I can't believe that in the year 2010 there is not a modern and USEFUL solution of the floppy disk to restore the Access IBM button or ThinkVantage!

I called phone assistance in Italy but they don't know nothing despite Lenovo pc are not cheap.

Many thanks IBM and/or Lenovo.

Giampiero from Italy.
