I had two USB cables plugged into my W500 when it slid onto the floor and landed on them. The small black tabs of plastic inside the connectors on the laptop snapped off and remained in the cables. From pictures it appears that the USB connectors are soldered to the motherboard.
Are these connectors available separately anywhere? It seems a shame to replace a perfectly good motherboard just because a couple of USB ports are damaged. Or are the ports themselves repairable?
And why does the parts list mention a USB Sub Card when the ports are on the motherboard?

you would have to look around the web, very few actually replace these usb ports.
However, not is all lost, get a expresscard usb hub or pcmcia usb hub, and you would have up to 4 usb ports. This is would cost around 20 to 30 dollars.
Since you have one native usb left, you can still boot any device from usb if you have a need for that.
