CD/DVD Booting on a W520 with OptiArc DVD RW 7710H

I'm trying to boot of a CD disc which boots off of other PC's no problem but will not boot off of my CD/DVD OptiArc DVD RW 7710H drive. i changed the SATA controller to compatibility mode, and it was trying to read it when it said loading but it just hung there. Does anyone have this type of problem, and if you have please let me know how you have solved it.

Does it appear in BIOS Boot priority menu?

Very interesting problem, dclingan. If you're indeed following the advice of the following thread (it sounds like you are) and still have the problem:

then it looks like you won't be able to boot from that specific CD. It may be an incompatibility between the drivers on the boot CD, your BIOS in legacy mode, and your optical drive.
