Flicker on Shutdown

Has anyone experienced flickering or screen shutoffs on computer shutdown?

What model ThinkPad do you have?

I haven't seen anything of the sort on a W520, T400, X61, T60, X100e.

I have seen that on my w520 also. I would guess its due to some background program not shutting down quickly enough?

Strange. I'm not seeing any flickering during shutdown.

Try setting all NVIDIA services to manual in Services.

Would need to clarify - is it just dimming and then re-brightening (could be Win7 waiting on a process to close as mentioned already) or totally blacking out then coming back (graphics driver, which I've seen on other Optimus machines as well, and will vary from configuration to configuration, likely depending on which GPU is active at the time the machine is shut down)

For example, if you plug in an external monitor, the internal panel will flash black, then come back on. Does this look the same to you as the flicker during shutdown?
