Hello,
I've just received my W510 and so far I'm very happy with it.
Though due to a little misleading text in the specs "Easy-to-use touch-screen technology on W510" of the Ebay auction, I have bought a model without touch input. This is quite sad for me because that's the main reason I really wanted the laptop, to develop multi touch software.
So now I was hoping that, since my display specs "15.6" FHD Display (95% Gamut, 270nit) with LED Backlight" are nearly identical to the touch display, that it might be possible to have it serviced to upgrade the screen.
I also noticed that the service & repair manual has a section on swapping the screen.
Therefore I'm hoping that someone here could confirm that this upgrade is possible?
*keeping my fingers crossed*
Kind regards,
Jochen

I don't think Lenovo will upgrade the screen for you and the two screens are not "nearly identical".
To replace your current LCD with the multitouch LCD, you'll need the following parts:
It's not just the panel itself.

Wow, thanks a lot for the fast reply. I don't mind doing it myself as I guess this laptop is much easier to disassemble compared to my previous one (being a 13" sony vaio). Mind if I ask how you know about this? Perhaps you have alread gone through the procedure?
If it might be quite tricky I guess I can always ask a retailer.
And really, thanks heaps mr.!! Appreciate your reply a whole lot! ![]()
Best wishes,
