New found bug on Boot - BIOS + Brightness

Has anyone experienced this:

 

1. From powered down state, press power button.

2. As the BIOS/power up screen comes on, change the screen brightness with Fn-HOME and/or Fn-END

3. Enjoy watching the system grind to a sllllllooooow pace, taking minutes or two before resolving the brightness and finally going on to boot.

 

Basically, changing brightness from the BIOS startup screens causes some sort of conflict.  It gets so bad that you have to hard-reset the laptop.
