Hey Guys:
I have a Thinkpad W500 with 320GB Seagate 7200rpm drive. I recently bought a Seagate 750GB 7200rpm hard disk and using Seagate Disk Wizard Application I cloned the hard disk.
After changing the hard disks and booting from the new one, I found out that the windows update is not working and after a search on the web I found out that the old hard drive had 512 byte sector and the new 750GB hard drive have 4K sector , to solve this issue there were many ways from installing a hotfix on old windows and cloning the disk again to installing the hotfix on new hard drive manually and replacing the DLL file, I did all and none of the worked.
so I decided to install the OS on the new hard drive from the scratch , so i booted from the Lenovo Windows 7 Pro 64 bit recovery disks that came with the system, after the installation finished, the windows enters a faze of installing drivers, it shows an error "Windows installation cannot continue because a required driver could not be installed." and then it restarts and show the same error again and again and again...
At last, nothing came to my mind and i'm really stuck, I wonder if you guys can suggest any other ways.

I have exactly the same symptoms on my system: Lenovo T510i and Seagate 750Gb. I've tried every imaginable combination of systems and restores and clones and images, but nothing works.
Essentially, Windows 7 (64 and 32 bit) runs on the 320Gb drive, but doesn't run on Seagate 750Gb. I even tried a retail version of Windows 7.

Recently, I downloaded All my laptop drivers and applications and with a instalation disk of windows 7 , i installed a new copy, after instaling all the drivers and ... not it's telling me that the system is not geniune . i used the cd key on sticker under my laptop.
( i have to add when i got the laptop it had windows 7 32 bit so i bought a 64 bit recovery disk from lenovo, and as it seems the 32bit serial number does not work on a 64bit system)
so installing a new operating system from scratch is now off the table.
whay should be Do?

I downloaded a key finder application from download .com , so i got the key of supplied copy of windows and entered it to the windows i installed freshly on the Seagate 750 GB hard drive and it does not work.
so this option is now off the table. NOW what?

This seem to be a new issue.
I have a similar isssue on my W700ds, in that with these drives the controller can not be set to RAID, if it is the system can not boot.
When booting there is a 7B error "inaccessable boot device" if i install any other drives (that I have access to) all is good.
I'm hoping that Lenovo picks up on this and corrects the problem with a BIOS update.
I know this is a W500 post but I beleive it is related.
