Very slow start up after sign in Windows

Hello

I have the problem, that after I signed in by Windows, I have to wait 1.5 minutes till the computer is usable to work. I have a W520 with the 1.33 BIOS. The problem also occured with the old 1.32 BIOS.

Thanks

Re: Very slow start up after sign in Windows

which graphic driver you have? it does this with integrate, discrete, optimus GPU or all three?

I'm asking because with a beta driver downloaded directly from nvidia website I had a similar problem.

Re: Very slow start up after sign in Windows

What are the symptoms? Does it get stuck on the "Welcome" screen? Does the hard drive light stay lit?

Is it WIndows 7? XP?

Re: Very slow start up after sign in Windows

The monitor setting in the BIOS are:

-Graphics Device: NVIDIA Optimus

-OS detection for NVIDIA Optimus: Disabled

About the graphic driver: I never installed a separate version. I have this one from the Lenovo update center.

The symptoms are:

- the hard drive light is always on

-after the log in process from windows, the screen gets black for 1.5 minutes. Only the mouse is visible.

I'm using Windows 7

Re: Very slow start up after sign in Windows

Do you have an SSD or HDD?

Has it always been like this or is this new behaviour?

I use a HDD

The behaviour is new. I first recognized it about 1 week ago.

Re: Very slow start up after sign in Windows

Did the laptop suffer any sort of drop?

Try running this trial:
http://www.hdtune.com/download.html

Go to the Error tab and see if there are any highlighted entries.

I'm suspecting some bad sectors on the drive.

Re: Very slow start up after sign in Windows

I did the Error Scan from the HD tune pro. The Software registered no error. All the squares were green.

Any other idea?

Re: Very slow start up after sign in Windows

What if you try uninstalling the RapidBoot package from Programs and Features?

Re: Very slow start up after sign in Windows

I uninstalled the RapidBoot package. Now the start up time is >2minutes!

Please help me, it's very bothersome to work with such a computer! I'm thankful for every tipp.
