I ordered my w530 on 2012/09/11
they first said that it will be shipped 2012/09/17
then they updated the shipping date to 2012/09/16
and on 2012-9-12 they said that it will be shipped on 2012/09/14 WoooW ![]()
BUT suddenly I reviewed my order details and I found that they change the ship date to :
Status : In Production Estimated Ship Date: 2012/09/21
Estimated Delivery Date : 2012/09/27 ![]()
What is going on guys.. is that typicall of lenovo to play with dates to make us frustrated.. or that just what it is and we will wait for weeks and weeks only for a laptop?

In my recent experience I've noticed that Lenovo's dates are a bit off when it comes to shipping and they do shift a bit. In my case I ordered my computer on 9/02/2012 and they said it would ship by 9/07/2012. It didn't, and got bumped to the 9/9/2012 and then actually shipped on 9/8/2012.
Once it did ship their order update info said it would be delivered by 9/11/2012 (which is rediculous to think it could make it from Shanghai to Colorado in 3 days). It did make it by 9/13/2012 which is what UPS had told me all along in their tracking info.
So, Lenovo's dates don't ever seem to be rock solid. I called Lenovo support and asked them what the status of my order is and the phone support seemed a lot more reliable than the dates that the website was giving me.

Ordered a W530 on Sept 7, original ship date Sept 12. On the 12th they changed the ship date to the 21st, and I thought oh-no, here we go!
The short version is that they marked it "shipped" on the 15th, and it arrived at 10AM on the 20th.
So far the machine has checked out great, so all things considered I'm happy.
Now its time to order some RAM and think about an SSD.

I ordered the top of the line ThinkPad W530 on the 9/19/12. When I ordered the laptop, both the website and the customer service rep I chatted with said the ship date would be on 9/25/12. Today is the 22nd, and I logged in to check the status of my order. According to the order status page, my laptop case has already shipped, but the laptop ship date has now been pushed back 3 WEEKS to 10/15/12.
This is unacceptable. I tried to contact customer service (according to the website it's 24/7) but guess what? It's Saturday and it's CLOSED.
This practice of taking a customer's money and then changing the ship date is known as 'the bait and switch' and also, more simply as FRAUD.
If my laptop is not going to ship on the date I was initially promised - or within a day or two of that date, then I am simply not interested and I wish to cancel my order. But guess what - Your "24/7" sales team won't even talk to me until Monday.
This is outrageous. I want an answer.

So, you have a moderator who can move my post to an existing thread within 10 minutes of me posting this - BUT NOBODY WHO CAN PROVIDE AN ANSWER TO ANY OF THESE SHIPPING ISSUES. Yeah, that's right. Just hide all the "problem" emails in one thread so they're not seen. Great service!
jamiecampbell...
sorry for your issue and frustration.
please, though, keep in mind that none of the moderators, ms mvps or gurus that you see posting in the community are Lenovo staff/employees. we are all volunteers simply trying to help members solve technical issues with their machines. in addition, the moderators have the big task of trying to maintain a semblence of order in the community. part of that is keeping common themes together, hence your new thread being merged into the existing thread.
that said, Lenovo staff do monitor this community. your concerns are seen.
regards.

it's a "Community" support model here, peer-to-peer, where all members are encouraged to share their knowledge and experiences. first and foremost, mods/mvps/gurus are members, also.
Lenovo has formal, company-to-consumer, support, also. just as all of the other big companies do.
regards.

I know it doesn't make the situation any better but I had read through these forums thoroughly before purchasing my laptop. In the back of my head I kind of expected shipping issues - even though I shouldn't have to. Your disappointment is warranted, but if you read these forums in advance the surprise shouldn't be. This thread is rife with issues people have had with shipping. I was lucky in that it showed up 3 days ahead of when I was told by Lenovo. For what it is worth, I called Lenovo support during the week and got really good info over the phone from one of the representatives. Hopefully you can get a batter answer on Monday as to what is happening with your shipment.
As far as volunteers running a company's forums; this is pretty typical for most companies nowadays. The Motorola forums are operated the same way. I don't know if it good or bad, but it seems to be becoming the standard.
Good luck!
