Some days ago I upgraded my bios using the 6fuj36u6 package. After that, all shutdowns, shutdown-and-reboots, have ended in the machine going into a deadlock with power-indicator off, battery+externalpower+bluetooth on, at the transition between OS and ACPI off/ACPI restart, only way to resolve being the long-press-power method.
Downgrading to 6fuj35u6 resolved the issue, giving me back a correct transition between OS and ACPI.
OS in question is Windows7 ultimate x64.

I am not sure if you made a typo or what. Just check website, the most recent bios version for W500 is 3.12.
Maybe you should download a bootable CD image file and reflash bios again.

You're quite right, I made a typo. 3.12 fails reboot consistently, and 3.11 doesn't. I've updated the subject of the first post to correct this error, thanks for pointing it out.

Wonder what I was thinking about the versions

Actually it's the 3.12/3.11 that doesn't work properly, and the 3.11/3.10 that does. Thank you lenovo for making version numbers so easy to read. (but the package names in the first post are correct, at least)
