W500 Switchable Graphics without Power Manager?

I have a W500 with Windows 7 x64 Professional.

Is there any small program to effect switching between discrete (ATI) and power saving (Intel) graphics other than through Power Manager?

Re: W500 Switchable Graphics without Power Manager?

You'd need it installed. You don't necessarily have to use the Power Manager's tools though.

"C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\Utilities\PWMUIAux.exe" /HighPerformanceGpu /ShowDialog
and
"C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\Utilities\PWMUIAux.exe" /EnergySavingGpu /ShowDialog

Will both switch the graphics card without using the battery tray icon.

Not sure if just having the PWMUIAux.exe by itself will work.

Re: W500 Switchable Graphics without Power Manager?

Thank you, Colonel for your quick reply. I have tried your suggestion using a shortcut based on what you posted and other than a brief running (as admin) of C:\ProgramFiles\ThinkPad\Utilities\PWMUIAux.exe" /HighPerformanceGpu /ShowDialog

there is no change in video chip nor any dialog displayed. I still have Lenovo Powermanager installed.

Does Powermanager need to be removed? Am I missing something?

Thank you again for your help.

Is there a particular reason you don't want Power Manager?
