W500 compatible with Windows XP 64bit?

Hello All. I have installed Windows 64 bit OS on a brand new W500 laptop.  Has anyone attempted this?  If so, can you supply me with the link for the drivers.  I am searching high and low right now for them.

thanks in advance

Re: W500 compatible with Windows XP 64bit?

the W500 can be optioned with Vista 64 bit, so therefore the 64 bit XP os can also be run. However, the driver side of thing gets slightly bit more complicated.

I misread the title. Anyways, XP x64 drivers are available. It would be best to use Driver Genius to download the latest drivers for XP x64.

Hi

I tried the Vista driver no luck and on the lenovo website there is no 64bit XP for the W500. I was thinking it was me not doing something right. if anyone could post the URL link for the XP 64bit driver wouldbe appreciated.

Re: W500 compatible with Windows XP 64bit?

The drivers can be found but they will be from different sources.

Can you post the hardware for your W500?

The following will probably work....

Chipset

Wireless [if using Intel wireless card]

Graphics [if using Intel integrated graphics]

Intel Matrix Storage Manager

Now I don't know what the ethernet chipset, card reader [if applicable], or other hardware used. We will need more information to find proper drivers.

Re: W500 compatible with Windows XP 64bit?

Just a heads up, but System Update might not work because Lenovo doesn't support XP x64.

Re: W500 compatible with Windows XP 64bit?

Anyone know where to find an XP 64 driver for the following:
HDAUDIO\FUNC_02&VEN_14F1&DEV_5069&SUBSYS_17AA214D&REV_1003\4&3890A423&1&0002: Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus

I've already downloaded and installed the Conexant Audio Driver: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-74380 which successfully installs:
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5069&SUBSYS_17AA218B&REV_1003\4&3890A423&1&0001: Conexant 20585 SmartAudio HD

but not the Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus.

I'm not sure if this is relevant, but I have two different instances of the UAA driver:
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0BE2&SUBSYS_219A17AA&REV_A1\4&6795F8C&0&0118: Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio

and

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B56&SUBSYS_215E17AA&REV_06\3&B1BFB68&0&D8 : Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio

I tried uninstalling the UAA drivers, one went way and took with it all other audio devices (Conexant and NVIDIA); the other could not be removed due to dependencies.

Upon rescanning for hardware changes, the UAA and NVIDIA drivers were reinstalled, as was the Conexant 20585 SmartAudio HD with the help of Windows Update, but the "Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus" now shows in device manager as "Unknown device".

As noted above, Driver Genius does not detect this "Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus" though it does seem to find updates for several other devices that are installed, but must have updates available from sources other then Lenovo since I began by installing all drivers downloaded from the W510 Driver Matrix.

I look forward to any assistance offered.
