W510 CPU Upgrade - i7 820qm to i7 840qm

My W510 came off warranty 6 months ago so I'm considering upgrading the cpu from the 820qm to the 840qm. A check on Intel's website shows that the socket type and die are the same for both processors. My questions are:

1. Is this upgrade possible?

2. What are the potential problems, if any, of doing this upgrade?

I would agree with richk, its not much of a cost effective upgrade. Check this neat chart: Intel Core i7 820qm vs 840qm
