W510 touch registers on wrong monitor when touch screen not primary display

I just encountered this problem, it seems like an issue with the touch screen driver. When a monitor is connected via VGA and that monitor is made the primary display, whenever I touch the laptop screen, the click indication appears on the wrong monitor. Is there a driver update that fixes this? Who should be notified? What company made/supports the touch screen?

hey MRX,

regarding this, really hard to say what could be the cause.

curious to know, the external monitor which you are using, did it by any chance some with its own drivers ?

also have you tried reversing and placing the external monitor as the primary ? does it make any difference?

Re: W510 touch registers on wrong monitor when touch screen not primary display

This happens only when the external monitor is the primary.

It seems like touch always registers on the primary, even if the primary is an external monitor. It'd be nice if this issue was fixed.

This problem happens on multiple different monitors including a dell 21" and LG L1733TR.

Sounds like it's just making a faulty assumption. Should be easy to fix, but that's just my two cents.

Re: W510 touch registers on wrong monitor when touch screen not primary display

Hey all.

I found a solution for this posted here: http://www.jessebandersen.com/2013/05/lenovo-thinkpad-x230-tablet-assign.html.

How to assign the correct touch screen:

  • Press Win Key and type "tablet".
  • Open the option that says "Tablet PC Settings".
  • Under the Configure section you will find a "Setup" button, click it.
  • Select the "Touch input" option.
  • Touch the X230T screen once, press the Enter key, and press the Enter key again.

OR

Hit the Win key and type "Pen Tablet Properties", go to the Calibrate tab, and  select the proper Monitor for the touch.
