I had a very bad experience purchasing my W520 Refurbished laptop directly from Lenovo. But, I absolutely love it.
Got a great deal on just the laptop I wanted from Lenovo outlet. The next day they had a great sale on new W530's. I quickly configured one and liked the price, called online chat and began a nightmare. The rep online cancelled my W520 order and I added my new order. Immediately I discovered I had placed an order for a T530 which I did not want. Rep said no problem he has cancelled. I then placed for a new W530, but it was more than I wanted to spend and had less features than the W520 refurb.
Cutting to the chase. The nightmare was that Lenovo sent me all 3 laptops and charged me for all 3 even tho I had cancelled 2 of them within no time. I decided to keep the W520 and return the T530 and W530 unopened, no restock fee.
Now the kicker, I made the best decision with keeping the W520 refub. Looked brand new and I am very happy with this beast. The reason I am posting this is I have listened to many Apple laptop owners gush over their Mac Pro's. I want to let everyone know that this is another gusher and I'm sure the W530 is just as good if not better. Every time I pick it up or use it I like what I have in my hands.
Love the solid construction and eye for detail this laptop has. The keyboard is fantastic and it performs better than any laptop I've owned to date. The battery life is fantastic. I've owned 3 other Thinkpads, T60, T61, and this is the best of the bunch but, is actually a reflection on why I keep buying them. Wife owns a Mac Pro and I would not trade my W520 for anything other than a W530, maybe. Need to see that keyboard.
Glad this nightmare purchase had a great outcome. As angry as I was Lenovo tech support did everything they could and in the end the outcome was as they said it would be. Lenovo needs to fix their order systems.
I'm now on the watch for refurb W530's. They will be the best deals on the net.
