Just got word from my Lenovo rep that the W530 isn't slated to be released until October.
It's good news for those who can wait for it, not so good for me.

Chief River models are available to purchase June 5th
- no stock in distribution
Channel Stock on Chief RIver will be September 2012
Does that mean it will be available directly from Lenovo June 5th and later through the retail channel (September 2012)?
PS: According to this
the W530 is going to have the Nvidia Quadro 2100M
The NVS 2100M supports PureVideo HD (with Video Processor VP4) to decode HD videos in the formats H.264, VC-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 ASP using the GPU. This helps reducing the CPU load and should lead to higher battery runtimes when viewing HD videos.

Just heard from another rep that it will be out (as in shipping to end customers) at the end of the month. Not sure who to believe but when a sales rep on commission says to hold off on buying, I can't help but think there's got to be a good reason.

Lenovo is already selling laptops with the new processors. Just not ThinkPads.
But they aren't yet ready with the drivers for the W530. Somewhere, on a web page we can't access, there are links to all of the beta drivers for the W530. As those drivers finish testing on that machine, those beta drivers are put on Lenovo's main website for general release.
The first W530 drivers started appearing on Lenovo's main site around April 10. When I checked a few days ago, Google only listed two drivers that had been released for the W530. It takes Google a week or two to get those into its index, so I'm sure there are more. It probably took a month or two for the W500/W700 beta Windows 7 drivers to all move from beta to full release, when Windows 7 came out. Users did the beta-testing in that case.
Obviously, if one rep tells you October, and another tells you the end of the month, then the reps don't know what they're talking about.
But I can tell you, if they don't come out with Ivy Bridge/Kepler ThinkPads before September, as the above .pdf file (linked to by huberth) states, then Lenovo is toast. Everyone knows that your products have to be in stock in August to make the back-to-school selling season. So I can't believe the September estimate.

ThinkPad E430 and E530 are already shipping with Quad Core IB CPU, with a lead time of 12 days.
Interesting, lead_org, I see that on Lenovo's Australia site. But in the U.S., they're instead offering those machines with only the i3-2350M, i5-2450M, and i5-2520M Sandy Bridge processors, at least at the moment.
They use integrated graphics, except the more expensive E430 configuration in Australia has the NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M, and the more expensive E530 configuration in Australia has the NVIDIA N13P-GL The GT 630M may be 28 nm (good), or it may be 40 nm (not necessarily so good), the 28 nm version providing more processing power per watt, both still using the older Fermi architecture (vs. the newer Kepler architecture). I have no idea which version of that processor Lenovo is shipping, and perhaps they'll ship the 40 nm version first, then the 28 nm version later. The N13P-GL is a 28 nm Fermi shrink (from 40 nm), vs. the newer Kepler architecture. So buyers will be trying to sort out 40 nm vs. 28 nm, and Fermi vs. Kepler.
Why don't you buy one, and tell us how it works!

Do you think the w530 will have the chiclet keyboard style as shown here: http://i1.blogs.technet.com/b/keithcombs/archive/2
f so what are your opinions on this? Do you think it will be backlit? I know I love my thinkpad keyboard how it is, I've never touched an X series laptop with the chiclet style. What you guys think??
