Weirdness - brand new W520 monitor did not come on when I tried to boot...

I just went to turn on my machine after not using it for a day or so (still partial to my little old X61) and the screen didn't come on. The HDD activity light was blinking away, but the backlight only flickered once or twice and never came on. Kind of worried, since I've only had this machine for a couple of weeks. A hard reset fixed the problem, but I was wondering if this is something that anyone else has experienced, and whether it protends any unhappiness in the future.

Might've just been Optimus having a false start. I'd keep an eye out for future occurences, though.

Also check if your BIOS and drivers are up to date.

My W520 did this once, too.  I think it got kind of confused coming out of sleep.  Like you, I did a hard reset (pushed and held the power button), and it then booted normally.

Because it only did it once, and that was about a month ago, I'm not very concerned about it.
