My W520 machine has only been stable since I uninstalled the power management drivers. Before that, I was crashing 3-5 times per day. This has affected all three of my W520 machines. When are we going to get new power management drivers that will not cuase blue screens of death on Windows 7? The last drivers were released in March. This is a known issue and I cannot believe we don't have updated drivers yet. Come on Lenovo!

Could you describe how your crashes were more exactly? Were they BSOD? random restart? Random loss of power? On AC/battery etc? Thanks!

I have the same issues. PM 1.61 worked, even though the online 1.62 documentation says that 1.62 "added" W520 compatibility.I have tried installing 1.62 several times, creating (after first bad experience) a restore point.
The system will reboot, and run for anything from a few minutes to as much as 10 minutes, and then do a plain old BSOD. The system will reboot, and go through the same thing. I have let it do this for several hours, hoping some internal setting will stabilize the PM driver, but that does not happen. This is true on AC with battery installed, and on AC with no battery. I never do any install / uninstall without AC connected, so don't know about that question you raise.
1.61, which shipped with the W520, is not fully functional. 1.62 is destructive.
My system shipped with 1.62. Build date was 6/1/11. Windows 7 Pro SP1. No issues here.

I have 3 W520 laptops and all 3 have this same problem. It is widespread. The only fix that I have seen is to remove the Lenovo power managment drivers. I ran for a couple of weeks with no issues, then it started to bluescreen again, and low and behold the power management driver was installed again (maybe it came back when I reinstalled the hotkey tool).
How do I upload the minidumps? I have lots of them, but can easily give you two. I don't see an upload here in the forum

Potentially good news here. I just ran system update again and see a few new Windows Updates. They address the error of a BSOD resuming from sleep and one from the wireless driver. They have been available from Microsoft since March. I can't believe it has taken Lenovo so long to get them to us. And I can't believe how many times I have to post on this board, only to have Lenovo tell me it is not a widespread problem. Well, I am going to cross my fingers and hope that my BSOD errors are soon going to be behind me. The hotfixes are KB2482122 and KB2459268.

So here is an update. I ran System Update, and in the middle of updating those new hotfixes, the machine blue screened (9f error again). It then blue screened another 23 times yesterday. The blue screens occur within 3 minutes of logging in. I am in the process of reinstalling my laptop from scratch. NOT IMPRESSED!

One more thing - the KB2528507 64bit module refuses to install. When I click manual install, it says it is not for my computer. Something is wrong with the package in System Update. I had that last night, and I am experiencing it again today on my fresh install.
