finally here. my W700 but second hard drive is not initialised? what do I do?

OK, so I have a W700..  2757CTO...  and it has primary drive as SSHD ( gotta say it is not as fast as I hoped at booting up).

Laptop arrived with second hard drive installed but not initialised. I find this odd, I mean I start the computer, and it does not know that the second hard drive is even there. anyway I looked and the drive is physically there, and in Computer Management it is there also .

as an aside I also have another HDD that has a

EISA partition, that I would like to remove and merge with the rest of the space on that drive. - TIPS???

Basically my question is what is a good use of the second HDD? should I make it dynamic?

In my ideal world I would just like to see ONE hard drive - a dynamic volume that spans the HDD. As long as the operating system is on the SSHD, then the machine should work quickly, and extended storage would be in the extended volume.... ... Sorry for the mixed terminology.

I just want a fast, simple, and BIG laptop LOL...

let me know if the Hard drive gurus have any thoughts here.. I will call Lenovo tech help in a day or two to get their opinion

Mine came without the second HD initialized, call Lenovo support and they will guide you through step by step.

Start > Run > Type in "diskmgmt.msc" without the quotes and click OK.

or

Win key + R > Type in "diskmgmt.msc" without the quotes and click OK.

Then right-click on the drive. Click "Initialize". Then you can partition it any way you like.
